I’d like to thank the individuals who have recently signed my guestbook, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to say hi and to confirm that the slowly climbing hit counter below is not the result of a stalker changing his or her IP address to boost my ego while surreptitiously plotting my destruction. As proof that I actually care about your opinions, I’ve changed the font from arial to verdana, which retains a fairly compact look but is larger than before—I prefer small fonts, but I also hate to discourage vistors from, well, reading stuff. A thread is dedicated to the discussion of this matter on the messageboard. Humor me. Please. As for the book, I’m waiting for another proof copy. Grr. The Waiting Game sucks.

Ka-BOOM. The books should be ready within two weeks, and a damn good thing, too. I’ve been driving my family insane and grossly neglecting academia. I have one day to read about 500 pages ranging from Dickens’ Hard Times to essays on “deep comic theory” and the hybrid identites of Pakistani Muslim women (um… those being separate topics). It’s weird—my hyper-stressed, übercathected person should be freaking out at this point, but I’m all hakuna matata like some crazy Buddha, with the rice steamer is my bedroom making me a sauna and the techno turned up LOUD. (This is the part where you snap your fingers).

Hello, all. After suffering through a crushing barrage of midterm papers and exams, I’m now on spring break. On the agenda: proof the proof, visit friends and family, and rock out at Bad Religion (yippee!). I also finally get to see Wookiefoot, the kindly hippie-hophip-I-dunno-what-the-hell group whose flophouse mansion I park in front of during Snow Emergencies. Like today. (…Spring cannot come soon enough…). In book news, The Teaching Emotion is given a delightful mention in the lastest GreatUnpublished newsletter. In site news, I axed the splash page because I think it’s annoying. Lastly, BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH! Et tu, Meg? indeed.

I received the proof copy a couple days ago; the book looks great (*a grin a mile wide*). I do, however, need to make a few formatting changes which will delay the book’s availability (I figure I’ve waited this long, I can wait a little longer). In addition I was recently contacted by Jeff Schwaner, the editor and co-founder of GreatUnpublished, the outfit I used to print The Teaching Emotion. Having read parts of the book, Jeff intends to include a notice for it in the next GU/Booksurge E-zine (eeeeeeeeee!). A link for this will be included as soon as it’s available. In other news, I recently cleaned my room and rear-ended an SUV on the interstate during heavy traffic.
